Keep a little bit of your loved one with you at all times. This would be an implant which has some external visual element which synchronized the heart beat between two humans. I imagine it as a progression of the wedding ring.

Line of clothing and implements to interact with digital communication [empathetic email, snuggle for Skype conversations, cradle for phone conversations with your child, a fluffy collar for your private conversation with your loved one] I imagine these devices as assistive design pieces which would not necessarily incorporate technology but reimagine how you interact with the device through which you communicate with people. Could an email sending sympathy be more meaningful if you were able to embrace the computer as you sent it?

#14 Enhanced haptic feedback loop of touch

Creates haptic feedback when you touch another person. enabling you to experience the way in which you physically interact with another. Allowing you to understand the strength, and possible perceived intention of your touch, allowing you to not only obtain more physical sensation through your own touch but also, rethink possible unwarranted physical interactions.

#15 Something to help to more politely display frustration levels

A device which would subtly broadcast your discomfort or frustration at a situation. I imagine it might be able to take the form of a high pitched frequency which would allow others to feel the discomfort you’re experiencing.

#16 Jewellery For a Collective Ritual Experience

This jewellery would be synced across devices to the time each batch was finished production. At that time everyday each device would notify its user of it’s time and engage the group in a small action which allows the user to take comfort in the knowledge of each other person engaging in the same collective ritual experience as well as the production of the piece as a whole.

Sometimes being an open book is too much. This allows you to project a more neutral face, enabling you to adjust transparency and reveal your emotions at a more restrained rate so as not to put off those you are conversing with.

#21 Human Dots

Two torcs that track the position of multiple other people wearing them on small vibrotactile 180 degree displays. Both vertical and horizontal position is tracked. Letting you know if someone is above, below or in which direction. But not being able to know who. Possibly learning to discern by recalling patterns of movement.

A necklace that detects an awkward moment of silence and plays a peppy upbeat (and likely out of place) melody that is /bound/ to bring a smile to one's face!

#26 Arm-e Talk-e

A gauntlet that acts as a receiver and transmitter of IR signals. Allowing the user to send their hand gestures to another person who wears the same device. As this is IR they have to be within view of each other (or at least the gauntlets do.) The upper arm portion consists of motors that constrain five evenly spaced rings. These act as feedback for what the other's fingers are doing. Allowing for fast (with practice) silent local communication.

A small box placed on a busy street. Occasionally the box begins sending out distress signals only to be calmed when two passerbys stand and hold it for 5 minutes.

A device that incentives a group of people to breathe deeply in unison.

A set of belts for a couple, one with sensors one with actuators. Monitors belly and back on a pregnant person. Transposes sensation of baby kicks as well as well as lower back pain and other aches to non-pregnant partner.
